Incredible experience in real Scottish winter conditions! I booked the 2-day Scottish Winter Skills Course with no idea what to expect — and it was amazing from start to finish. The instructors were brilliant at explaining everything clearly and made me feel confident using crampons and an ice axe for the first time. We even learned how to assess avalanche risks and plan our own routes. I left feeling totally ready to tackle my own winter hikes safely.

I joined the 1-day winter skills course as a complete beginner, and it was spot on. The day was packed with practical learning — from walking techniques on snow to self-arresting with the ice axe. The instructor was friendly, patient and clearly knew his stuff. I can’t believe how much we covered in a single day. I’m already planning to come back next winter for the 2-day version!

This was one of the best outdoor courses I’ve done. Everything felt professional but relaxed, and the instructors really cared about making sure everyone understood the conditions and safety side of winter mountaineering. The scenery in the Cairngorms was unbelievable, and I came away with the skills — and confidence — to plan my own winter adventures. Highly recommend Lake District Adventuring for anyone serious about learning proper winter techniques.
