Description
.The Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge is without a doubt a rewarding challenge to complete. It makes an excellent training event if you're hoping to complete the National 3 peak at a later date. The challenge is often referred to as the big brother of the Ullswater way walks. The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge also makes a great training day if you are thinking about doing the 3 Peaks Challenge in the future. However, this is a tough 12-hour walk. You will have to climb over the 3 highest peaks in Yorkshire Pen Y Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. Each of these mountains has its own uniqueness and steep sections which only add to this challenge.
You will find yourself climbing over 1200 meters uphill over 26 miles. Sounds like it could be easy right well it is very much not your need to be prepared for a long day. We start our route in Horton-in-Ribblesdale and unlike most companies, we will head out anti-clockwise. This way we are avoiding the crowds but also getting the bulk of the distance out of the way while we have fresh legs.
These events are open to anyone and come with guides and a support crew. The guides know the exact pace that your need to be, to be able to do the challenge within the time. The support crew will be there to give you plenty of motivation and to help you at checkpoints. When you book on to the challenge you get all the information you need in a pdf document. Here you find things like what to pack etc.
