Led by a qualified Mountain Leader, you’ll also master night navigation, steep ground rope work, and the art of wild camping. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a complete beginner, this course will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed for safe, independent mountain adventures.

Whether you’re a seasoned mountaineer or a complete beginner, this comprehensive course is tailored to all levels of experience, making it the perfect choice for anyone eager to enhance their mountain skills.
Over three action-packed days, our expert Mountain Leader will guide you through the critical aspects of mountain safety, including mastering navigation techniques, trip planning, understanding weather patterns, and identifying the best camping spots. You’ll also learn vital emergency skills and the art of night navigation—a skill typically costing £160 on its own—along with steep ground rope work, ensuring you’re fully prepared for any situation.
Our courses are run during the Spring, Summer, and Autumn months. The first day will see you navigating through the hills, followed by a night under the stars, where you’ll put your new skills to the test. The final day is dedicated to consolidating your learning, ensuring you’re ready to take on the mountains with confidence and independence.

Morning: Meet your mountain guide and fellow participants for an introduction and course briefing before heading out on the mountains
Afternoon: Focusing on navigation skills including map reading, compass use, and understanding terrain.
Evening: Learn about trip planning, including how to assess weather patterns and choose safe routes, Packing for the expedition part of the course
Morning: Kits check and head out for our mini break in the mountains, Continue to explore the hills, deepening your understanding of navigation and mountain safety.
Afternoon: Practice steep ground rope work, emergency training, and learning how to safely navigate more challenging terrain.
Evening: After a break, delve into night navigation—a crucial skill for any mountaineer. You’ll learn how to navigate in low-light conditions, enhancing your confidence in challenging environments.
Overnight: Return to your campsite, reflecting on the day’s learning under the stars
Morning: Break camp and start your final hike, applying all the skills you’ve learned over the previous two days.
Afternoon: Review and consolidate your skills with feedback from your leader, ensuring you’re ready to tackle the mountains on your own – Depart at about 4pm
