The Lake District has some of the finest rock climbing in England. From the famous crags of Langdale and Borrowdale to the quieter venues above Coniston and Ullswater, the variety and quality of climbing here is exceptional — and our qualified instructors know every route.
Whether you have never tied into a rope before or you are an experienced climber looking to push your grade, our guided rock climbing sessions are tailored to your level. We focus on real learning in stunning surroundings — not conveyor-belt tourism. Small groups, great routes, genuine coaching.
Shepherd’s Crag, Borrowdale
One of the most popular and accessible crags in the Lake District, set in the beautiful Borrowdale valley near Keswick. Perfect for beginners and improvers, with a wide range of routes from Moderate to E1. The approach is short and the rock quality is excellent.
White Ghyll & Raven Crag, Great Langdale
Langdale is one of the iconic valleys of the Lake District, and its crags offer some of the best roadside and mountain climbing in England. Raven Crag above the Old Dungeon Ghyll is a classic venue — great rock, superb position, routes for all abilities.
Dow Crag, Coniston
A more committing mountain crag with a longer approach — suitable for those wanting a bigger day out. Dow Crag offers multi-pitch routes on excellent rock with spectacular views over Coniston Water and the surrounding fells.
We select the venue based on your ability, the weather and what will give you the best day. On all our sessions we aim to give you real climbing on real rock.
Your session begins with an introduction to the equipment — harness, helmet, rope and belay device — followed by a safety briefing and your first moves on the rock. Your instructor will be with you throughout, coaching technique, building confidence and setting routes that match your ability.
