Ghyll scrambling is one of the most popular outdoor activities in the Lake District — and for good reason. It combines climbing, scrambling, swimming and real mountain scenery into one completely unique experience. No ropes, no prior skills, just you, the water and some of the most spectacular terrain in England.
Our main venue is Sticklebarn in Great Langdale, one of the finest beginner-friendly ghylls in the Lake District. The route takes you through natural waterfalls, flowing rock channels and deep mountain pools — all in a safe, guided environment with a fully qualified Mountain Training instructor.
Sticklebarn sits in the heart of the Langdale Valley, around 20 minutes from Ambleside and just 15 minutes from Grasmere — making it one of the most spectacular and accessible adventure locations in the Lake District.
