What To Expect On Your Canyoning Adventure
Your session begins at the meeting point with a full safety briefing and equipment fitting — wetsuit, helmet, harness and ropes. Your instructor will walk you through every technique before you need it, so you always feel prepared and confident.
A typical canyoning session in the Lake District includes:
- Scrambling and wading through the canyon approach
- Natural rock slides into deep pools
- Jumping from ledges into the water (optional — nothing is compulsory)
- Waterfall abseils using ropes and a harness
- Swimming through gorge sections
- Exploring hidden corners of the canyon that most visitors never see
Sessions last approximately 2.5 hours in the canyon. Allow 3 hours total including briefing and travel to the venue. Every session is adapted to suit your group, confidence level and conditions on the day.
