Fully supported with expert guides and transport—secure your spot with a £50 deposit in 2024 we had a 98% success rate of teams making it under 24 hours with an average time of 23:48 car to car.
The National 3 Peaks Challenge is not for the faint-hearted. It’s a physically demanding journey with tight time limits for each peak, requiring determination, preparation, and stamina. The challenge covers 24 miles with a combined ascent of 3,064 meters across rugged terrains and unpredictable weather conditions.
Adventuring offers two challenge event types :
Open Events: Our open challenges are perfect for solo adventurers or small groups looking to join others on this epic journey. We provide expert mountain guides, dedicated driving teams, and transport throughout the challenge. From the initial pickup point to the final drop-off, we’re with you every step of the way, offering support and guidance to ensure your success.
Private Events: Want to take on the challenge with a group of friends or colleagues? We offer private 3 Peaks Challenge events for groups of 8 or more. Choose your preferred date, and we’ll handle the rest—transportation, mountain guides, and even a pre-challenge meeting to answer all your questions and help you prepare.

Morning: Pick up from either
- Penrith at approx 7 am Saturday
- Fort William approx 12.00 on Saturday
Afternoon: Once we have checked everyone has everything you have for the challenge, as well as had a brief introduction to the team if we have not already done that, we make our start on the challenge and start the timer. This will normally be around 1 pm. You will start with climbing Ben Nevis which will take around 6 hours to complete.
Evening: Once Ben Nevis is complete there is no hanging around It is right on to the drive down south to the Lake District for Scafell Pike
Morning: You will be climbing Scafell Pike at approx 1 am and have around 3.5 hours to complete the challenge, it will be dark and you will feel tied.
Once Scafell Pike is complete it is another 4-hour drive to Snowdon where you climb your final peak for the challenge. You have around 5 hours to do this in the time but we hope if you move well you might more.
Afternoon: Your Challenge will finish 24 after your start date. Once the challenge is over we will drive to Llanberis where we can chat, grab a coffee and start to think about your onward travel.
Adventuring staff will do a drop-off at either
- Bangor
- Penrith
We can drop people off along the way as long as it is no more than 10 minutes off our way north.

The National 3 Peaks Challenge involves climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon, usually within 24 hours
While prior mountain climbing experience isn’t necessary, a good level of fitness is required as the challenge involves significant physical effort, including steep ascents and long descents
You’ll need sturdy walking boots, waterproof clothing, layers for warmth, food and water for the day, and a small backpack. A full kit list will be provided upon booking.
Yes, transport between the three peaks is included. Our team will ensure you get from one peak to the next most efficiently and comfortably possible.
We recommend engaging in regular cardiovascular training such as running, hiking, or cycling. Some hill-walking practice will also help you prepare for the ascent and descent of the mountains.
