
Outdoor rock climbing involves ascending natural rock faces using ropes, harnesses and protection systems. Unlike indoor climbing, outdoor climbing requires additional skills such as anchor building, rope management, communication and decision making in a natural environment. Our courses focus on these essential skills so you can climb safely beyond the course.

Adventuring rock climbing courses in the Lake District are designed to help you learn to climb safely, confidently and independently on real rock.
Whether you are completely new to outdoor climbing or transitioning from indoor walls, our courses provide expert instruction in a relaxed, supportive environment.
All courses are delivered by experienced instructors who focus on practical skills, sound judgement and building long-term confidence.
Courses typically run as either 1 or 2 days sessions and include skills instruction, multiple climbs and plenty of time for questions and practice.
After completing one of our rock climbing courses, many climbers continue developing their skills in the Lake District.
Common next steps include progressing onto our multi-pitch climbing course in the Lake District, booking a private day with a climbing guide in the Lake District, or broadening mountain skills through our mountaineering courses in the Lake District.
We use beginner-friendly crags in areas such as Langdale, Borrowdale and Coniston. Locations are chosen based on weather, group ability and learning goals.
Common venues are Shepherds crag – Borrowdale | Raven crag – Langdale or Dow crag on Coniston.
In the past we have also visited the higher mountain crags of Scafell, Bowfell and Gimmer crag.
We provide all technical climbing equipment including helmets, harnesses and ropes . But if you have your own it is advised to bring these with you.
You should bring suitable outdoor clothing, food, water and climbing shoes if you have them.
Once your book on to a course your be able to download an information sheet that will have everything on it you need bring with you.

A: No prior outdoor climbing experience is required for most rock climbing courses. For some courses such as the climbing rescue course you will a level of experience.
A: Yes, all technical equipment is provided.

All of our instructors are a minimum Mountaineering instructor the qualification that you need to be able to deliver these courses, they are all current and active within the climbing and mountaineering world
