Fell Walking
One of the more popular Lake District activities is fell walking, owing to the many peaks that make up the distinctive landscape. Scale the highest mountain in England on a Scafell Pike Sunset Walk and soak up the most stunning views across the Lake District as the sun dips below the horizon. If you fancy an even greater challenge, why not tackle the Three Peaks and climb to the summit of the three highest mountains in the UK?
Gorge Scrambling
If you prefer something wet and wild, gorge scrambling in the Lake District takes you on a fun adventure climbing up waterfalls, dropping into mountain pools and abseiling down rock faces. You’ll be provided with wetsuits and an experienced guide will show you the ropes. Because gorge scrambling can involve high jumps and rock climbing, the minimum age is 7.
Rock Climbing
This hands-on activity not only gets the heart pumping, but it also lets you see the Lake District from a unique perspective. As you feel your way up the nooks and crannies of rugged rocks, you can take in the surrounding scenery. Whether you’re a beginner or a more seasoned climber, there are various of locations to suit your ability. Rock climbing is a fabulous activity for families as you cheer each other on and celebrate in your achievements.
Abseiling
There’s no better way to test your mettle and push yourself to your limits than on an abseiling adventure in the Lake District. You’ll descend down a 60-metre high rock face using secured ropes to lower yourself down. Your trained instructor will be taking excellent care of you and will give you lots of words of encouragement if you’re feeling a little nervous. You’ll also have the opportunity to do a practice run on a smaller rock of just 15 metres so you can get a feel for the abseiling beforehand.
